Introduction
UN Ethiopia Project Database
The UN Ethiopia Project Database (hereafter referred to as ‘EPD’) captures and shares information on all projects and programmes managed, funded and implemented by UN Agencies in Ethiopia. It provides quick and transparent access to information across UN Agencies on their activities by key fields such as sector, location, finances and key tags. UN Agencies enter their data multiple times per year, and all other users can view it and produce the reports they need. The EPD is maintained and managed by the UN RCO, on behalf of the UNCT as part of their mandate to improve coordination within the UNCT.
Relation to other systems and processes
The UN INFO database is used to report on joint programmes/initiatives. Projects in the EPD are directly linked to these joint initiatives, enabling the planning, monitoring and reporting via excel for entry into UNINFO. An automatic link via the UNINFO API is under investigation.
The GoE Aid Information Management System (AIMS, previously the AMP, with a new system due in 2026) will be able to export projects from the EPD, for direct import into the AIMS, most likely via the IATI data standard.
UN Agency internal systems provide the data used in the EPD. They are unique to each UN Agency and provide Agency specific fields and definitions.
International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) is the name given to an initiative and a data format that many Agency HQs use to openly publish data on their projects/programmes. IATI data can be imported by FPs to fill out their activities in the EPD.
