Data Access

Basic data

Information in the EPD is open to the public. Public users cannot add or edit data, but they can view activities, charts, tables, export data, and make reports. They will include the public, GoE, development partners and implementing organisations.

On the Homepage, users can see a map (zoomable), and two charts. Both charts can be converted into tables, in the top right of each chart, the year shown can be changed, and individual items can be hidden/revealed by clicking on them in the legend. Charts and tables can also be downloaded. These same features apply to almost every chart in the EPD.

Activities can be viewed in the activities list and this can be filtered (e.g. to a single agency, sector, CF Output), using the [show filters] button in the top right. Individual activities can be seen by clicking on their names, which will take users to a page showing all the data for that activity.

Logged-in users can export a project brief in Microsoft Word format for sharing more widely. These can be downloaded from a button in the top right.

Dashboards

Different dashboards are available showing the data by major themes e.g. a particular sector-type e.g. CF Outcome, SDG Goal, by Agency, and by Region. On some dashboards (SDG Goal, and Agency) a brief is also downloadable. Filters are available to show subsets of the data, and many charts can be changed to show the funder or implementer for that subset.

Agency reports

Reports ‘by Agency’ show the homepage charts, but filtered to a specific UN Agency. They allow additional filtering, downloading of a brief focussed on that UN Agency, and have a list of the activities from that Agency. The arrows in the screenshot show several of the features available to the user.

  1. Select Agency report, and select UN Agency of interest
  2. Download the Agency brief
  3. Change the chart X-axis e.g. to show the breakdown by Implementer
  4. Change the years used when calculating the chart
  5. Turn on-off chart series (click items in the legend)
  6. Save an image of the chart
  7. Download the Agency report data to Excel
  8. Show the chart data as a table with the underlying values

report-agency

If the UN Agency “All Agencies” report is selected, the dashboard will show a comparison across UN Agencies.

CF Priority Areas, SDGs, Regions

As with the ‘by Agency’ dashboard, selecting the top item e.g. ‘All Areas’ will show a comparison across CF Priority Areas, whereas selecting a specific CF Priority Area will focus on a single Area broken down by e.g. UN Agency.

Excel export

The ‘Export data’ menu allows downloading the EPD in a variety of excel formats. Key use-cases will be the export of data for further analysis outside of the EPD (e.g. in Excel), after selecting which columns should be exported. If data on individual disbursements is required, use the ‘Advanced download formats’ option.
